A convicted sex offender wanted on a warrant out of Greeley was arrested in Texas at a Mexican border crossing station.
Francisco Diaz Perez, 69, was arrested June 21 by U.S. Border Patrol agents at a U.S. 57 checkpoint, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release.
Perez, a Mexican citizen, was a passenger in a commercial van when contacted by border agents.
Convicted in Greeley of sexual assault of a child, Diaz Perez was wanted on an active probation violation, the release said.
Diaz Perez is charged with illegal re-entry into the United States after deportation. He also faces extradition to Colorado to face charges against him in Greeley.
