Loveland’s City Council voted 5-3 Tuesday night to amend a 2003 law that prohibited feeding squirrels and most birds if they became a nuisance to neighbors.
Council member Joan Shaffer, one of the no votes, called adding a “laundry list” of animals that can’t be fed “silliness.”
“As my constituents have said, there’s nothing to fix here,” she said.

Shaffer said Gaylord Sigman’s case was the first time someone was ticketed for feeding squirrels, which she said was evidence the issue isn’t a problem.
But the issue of feeding squirrels erupted in violence in Gunbarrel last year when a about feeding peanuts to squirrels ended with a gunshot.
