New Hampshire firefighters headed west to fight Colorado wildfires

The crew expects to be back home late this month

ALLENSTOWN, N.H. — Twenty New Hampshire firefighters are headed out west to help battle wildfires in Rocky Mountain region.

The state Division of Forest & Lands wildfire crew was leaving Saturday for Colorado, the site of several wildfires. They are taking a bus to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where they will join other teams from the Eastern states before flying to Colorado.

Jessica Allen, a member of the Marlow, New Hampshire, fire department said this is her seventh trip out west to battle wildfires.

The crew expects to be back home late this month. Deployments are typically 16 days, plus travel time.
