Severe hail-producing thunderstorm bound for south Denver metro area

Quarter size hail could result from storm

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the south metro area, lasting until 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The storm, which was first spotted in southwest Denver Saturday afternoon and was tracking to the southeast, could produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Damage to vehicles, roofs, siding and trees is possible.

The storm is headed for southwest Aurora, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, parts of Parker, Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Lone Tree and Sheridan.

People in these areas should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
