A 29-year-old Army captain died in a motorcycle crash Tuesday morning in Colorado Springs, officials said.

Capt. Patrick S. Jones was traveling west on Dublin Boulevard when he collided with a pickup about 8:20 a.m. as that eastbound driver tried to turn north onto Tutt Boulevard, police said.

At one point, the helmeted motorcyclist and his bike were on fire, police said. Jacob R. Saldua of Lubbock, Texas, was cited Wednesday for a Class A traffic infraction. He reportedly turned left in front of the motorcycle, which was speeding, police said. Neither drugs nor alcohol are considered factors in the crash.
