Lockheed Martin’s Space Systems executive vice president will be awarded the highest honor from the National Defense Industrial Association’s Space Division at a ceremony in Virginia in August.

Rick Ambrose, who leads all of Lockheed Martin’s space programs, which employ a bulk of the aerospace company’s , is this year’s industry winner of the Honorable Peter B. Teets Award. Ambrose, who is based out of Littleton, has been with the company for more than 35 years.

Space Systems is a $9.1 billion enterprise that employs roughly 18,000 people across multiple states. That company has been involved in several NASA missions, including designing and building the .

The government honoree this year is Lt. Gen. Samuel A. Greaves, director of the Missile Defense Agency.
