Despite the big run-up in price that low- and mid-priced homes have had over the past five years, luxury homes haven’t kept pace. “Itap picking up, but still slow,” says Kentwood agent Dotson Skaggs. He’ll show you evidence behind the guarded gates of Castle Pines Village on the International Course’s No. 3 fairway, where he’ll have an 11,000-square-foot custom walkout ranch on a near 1-acre site, with lavish features and trim and one of the best mountain views in the entire enclave, open from noon until 3 p.m. July 16.
The price of 761 International Isle is $2.7 million — a “screaming deal” says Skaggs, who specializes in estate properties in Douglas County. The five-bedroom, eight-bath ranch by custom builder Copperleaf Homes lies in one of the Village’s most exclusive areas, a west-facing slope south of the club where homes overlook the Rampart and Platte River Ranges to the west, crested by Devil’s Head Peak. Castle Pines, with its 24-hour security and amenities set amid promontories and pine forest, was the most talked-about community in the Denver area when it emerged in the late 1980s, but slipped into the shadows as newer areas offered more up-to-date architecture.

This home, just over a decade old, looks as if it were built yesterday, with a very contemporary Great Room and entertaining area that show depth and character, before opening across huge decks to the panorama. The home’s owner told me he routinely hosted an annual Super Bowl party for 200 people, with a full catered dinner, watching the action on 14 screens (they’re included). You’ll see a kitchen in granite with premium appliances including double oven, warming drawers and fridge in cabinet livery; a master suite built around the views; a finished walkout level with theater and wine cellar; high-tech iPad stations for smart-home monitoring; a beautiful pool in an architectural setting; and a full-wide, four-car garage with corner entries.
Take I-25 south to Exit 187/Happy Canyon Road and turn right a mile to the roundabout, then turn west to the gate, asking for a pass to 761 International Isle; or call Skaggs at 303-550-4566.
