A little rusty. An elderly man was issued a summons and ordered to complete driver’s license retest July 10. He was having trouble parking his car in the 8300 block of West 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, and struck three nearby vehicles in the process.
Family fugitive. On June 30, The loss prevention officer at Super Target, 5071 Kipling St., showed Arvada police surveillance footage of a woman putting merchandise in her purse and leaving without paying. When officers visited the address connected to the car that the suspect left in, they found the suspect’s grandmother who was also seen on the surveillance footage. The grandmother said she did not know where her granddaughter was or how to contact her. When officers asked to search the house, she allowed them in. They found the suspect hiding. She had four active warrants, and was arrested. The grandmother was cited because of her dishonesty.
Strike two. An Arvada police officer arrived at a residence in the 7200 block of Robb Drive on July 3 after seeing fireworks coming from the area. The officer encountered a party of about 150 people. The officer gave the homeowner a verbal warning that he was in violation of the city’s ordinance regarding fireworks. The homeowner said he would put the fireworks away. Later, the officer saw fireworks coming from the residence again. The homeowner was issued a summons, but the officer noted that everyone at the party was friendly and cooperative.
Unexpected mail. A suspicious package arrived at the Jefferson County Housing Authority, 7490 W. 45th Ave., Wheat Ridge, on July 10 labeled from India. West Metro Fire Department responded to check the package but it was found simply to contain a promotional package.
