It took Brighton firefighters an hour to extinguish a human-caused fire Monday afternoon that burned five cars and three acres of brush, authorities say.
The fire started around 12:32 p.m. near 11825 E. 121st Street, said Natalie Ridderbos, spokeswoman for Brighton Fire Department.
“We do believe it to be human caused,” Ridderbos said.
Witnesses saw a person near the field where the brush fire broke out, she said. It then spread to a shed and destroyed five cars.
“It was hard to get it under control,” Ridderbos said. “Car fires are difficult to put out.”
