Longmont to pay $10K to $15K to investigate council harassment claim

City officials refused to release the complaint that prompted the investigation

Longmont estimates it will spend between $10,000 and $15,000 to investigate sexual harassment allegations involving city council members, city officials said.

The Times-Call discovered on July 11 that “allegations of harassment against female city council members by male city council members.”

Two council members — Bonnie Finley and Brian Bagley — have said they suspect the investigation is politically motivated. in open meetings with Councilwoman Joan Peck.

The Times-Call filed a request under the Colorado Open Records Act for the initial complaint that launched the investigation, the standard operating procedures for harassment allegations among council members and an invoice that shows how much the city will pay the law firm to look into the allegations.

The city refused to release the complaint. Teresa Taylor Tate, assistant city attorney, said the investigation is estimated to cost between $10,000 and $15,000.
