Heavy rain and high winds up to 50 mph are expected in pockets along the Front Range Wednesday afternoon, forecasters say.
Clouds will build through the afternoon until strong isolated thunderstorms begin hitting after 4 p.m. There is a 10 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms.The high temperature is expected to reach 96 degrees in downtown Denver, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
The chance for rain increases towards the end of the week.
There is a 20 percent chance for afternoon rain and thunder on Thursday. The high temperature will be around 93 degrees, the weather service says.
Thursday evening and into Friday, the likelihood of precipitation increases to 40 percent. Some storms will produce heavy rain.
The high temperature on Friday will be 91 degrees, the weather service says.
Temperatures will continue to drop this weekend with a high Saturday of 87 degrees and a high Sunday of 84 degrees.
The highs will remain in the mid-80s early next week.
