A tourist delayed a trip to Maroon Bells Sunday when she leaned on her backpack and triggered a can of bear spray.

Pitkin County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Todaro says the tourist accidentally sprayed the can of capsaicin pepper Sunday morning when the bus was about a mile from the Maroon Bells parking lot.

Emergency responders say only the tourist and two other people were heavily exposed to the spray.

After the bus aired out, the trip continued to the picturesque mountain peaks.
