A brush fire caused by a lightning strike broke out Friday afternoon in Castle Rock.
The fire erupted at about 3 p.m. in the area of Founders Parkway and Saddleback Drive, according to the Castle Rock Fire Department.

South Metro Fire Rescue aided in fighting the fire, which was about three acres just before 4 p.m., fire officials said.
The fire, in the Terrain neighborhood of northeast Castle Rock, was about one-half mile from homes and was not considered to be threatening any residences. Residents in the area were notified of the fire. Parts of Founders Parkway were temporarily closed and a detour is in place.
