A 41-year-old Fraser man who drowned in a lake at a Western Slope park during the weekend has been identified.
The body of Jason Smith was recovered from Glade Park’s Enoch Lake, just south of Grand Junction, according to the Mesa County coroner’s office.
The body, which was submerged, was pulled from about 15 feet of water Sunday afternoon.
Smith was reportedly swimming with family Saturday night when he went under water and didn’t resurface.
The coroner’s office has ruled the cause of death a drowning. Alcohol intoxication, however, is a “significant contributor” to Smith’s death, according to the coroner’s office. His blood alcohol concentration was .252 percent.
Such a high level would impair balance and movement. There’s also a risk of blackouts and nausea, according to alcohol consumption charts.
The manner of death, according to the coroner’s office, is accidental. The sheriff’s office is conducting an investigation.
