The idea is based on mathematical expression of melody - written laws that date back to Bach and Mozart. Technical specialist Douglas Bolitho and Dr. Martin Klein, of Pasadena, Cal., coupled the idea to electronics to come up with tunes by the basketsful. Bolitho and Klein said that the work is, "an experiment of mathematical importance only," and that, "no computer will ever posess the esthetic gifts which are responsible for art."
