Like any metro area of a certain size, reality TV producers love Denver for casting calls because the city is a regional population hub — and one that’s continuing to grow.

Unlike most cities, casting agents for and others keep returning to the Mile High City because we have an unusually young, fit and educated populace, compared with national averages.

It’s no surprise, then, that CBS’ long-running “Survivor” is coming back from noon-4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18 for a casting call at Medved KIA in Wheat Ridge, 11201 W. Interstate 70 (on the north frontage road).

The show last invited Coloradans to try out for a spot in the reality-TV wilderness .

Producers are seeking men and women who are strong-willed, outgoing, adventurous, physically and mentally adept, adaptable to new environments and who have “interesting lifestyles, backgrounds and personalities,” according to on CBS Denver’s website.

People can begin lining up at 9:30 a.m., and camera crews will be on hand to capture the first 200 hopefuls’ 1-minute video showcasing why they would make a good contestant on “Survivor.”

No paperwork is needed upon arrival, but producers are encouraging interested parties to ahead of time.

All contestants must be U.S. citizens, living in the U.S. and 18 years or older at the time of application. If selected as a semi-finalist, candidates will be invited for final interviews with “Survivor” producers in Los Angeles, according to a press release.

Past Denver “Survivor” contestants include nanny , one of the show’s first two openly lesbian contestants, , an owner/operator of two Denver medical marijuana dispensaries, who joined the cast in 2011, and last year’s underwear model/activist , who still lives in Denver.
