Sunshine and winds out of the northeast between 5 to 9 mph are expected Tuesday in the Denver metro area, forecasters predict.

The high temperature will be around 87 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

“Today will be warm and drier with only isolated afternoon thunderstorms mainly over the mountains,” weather forecasters say.

A wind change in the evening from a northerly to southerly direction will also bring stronger breezes gusting up to 16 mph.

The strongest storms of the week likely will come Wednesday and Thursday when there is a 40 percent chance for rain and thunderstorms.

High temperatures will drop to around 72 degrees on Thursday.

It will be warmer on Friday, when it will be mostly sunny. There’s a slight chance for rain and thunderstorms after midnight.

High temperatures on the weekend will range from the low-to-mid 80s. There is a slight chance for rain each day during that period, according to the weather services.
