Denver weather forecast: Storms brew with dramatic temperature drop

A milder north wind from Canada will knock Denver off its 90-degree pedestal Wednesday and drop temperatures by nearly 20 degrees by Thursday, forecasters say.

Early Wednesday, southwesterly breezes will usher in warm temperatures under a mostly clear sky, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The high temperature will be around 90 degrees.

Strong northerly winds will sweep into Colorado this afternoon, bringing a 30 percent chance for rain showers and thunderstorms.

The low temperature Wednesday night will be around 57 degrees.

The warmest it will get on Thursday will be around 71 degrees. There’s another 30 percent chance for precipitation in the afternoon.

High temperatures will hover in the low to mid-80s Friday through Tuesday, the weather service forecasts.

It will be mostly sunny Friday. There’s only a slight chance for afternoon storms on Saturday and Sunday. It should be partly sunny on Monday.

There is a chance for rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday.
