A man died Sunday near one of the Flatiron rocks west of Boulder, authorities said.

Boulder County sheriff’s dispatchers received a call of a fallen rock climber just before 6 p.m., Sgt. Vinnie Montez said.

Deputies went to the scene and were investigating Sunday night. “It’s not clear what transpired,” Montez said.

Earlier Sunday, the authorities in Pitkin County reported a climbing fatality after a man west of Aspen.
