A man who was throwing rocks at vehicles in Denver traffic was sentenced Friday to five years in prison for assaulting a police officer during the same incident.

Brian Deese, 45, was on two counts of assaulting a police officer, both felonies, and one count of obstruction, a misdemeanor, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

On Nov. 5, 2015, police were sent to West Alameda Avenue and South Santa Fe Drive about a man throwing rocks at passing vehicles. When officers arrived, Deese was combative and assaulted an officer. He fled the scene and then injured two other officers as he was being , the DA’s office said in a news release.

 

Deese prison sentence includes 645 days already served.
