
Convicted rapist Austin Wilkerson was released from the Boulder County Jail over the weekend after serving about half of his that drew national outrage from some who viewed it as too lenient.
With credit for good behavior, Wilkerson was released at 5 p.m. Saturday after serving 367 days of his 730-day sentence, Boulder County sheriff’s Cmdr. Mike Wagner said Wednesday.
Wagner said Wilkerson accumulated 363 days of “good time” during his work-release sentence.
Colorado law says inmates who are allowed to participate in a “day reporting program” like work-release “shall receive one day credit against their sentences for each day spent in such programs.”
Wilkerson was convicted in May 2016 of sexually assaulting a helpless victim and unlawful sexual contact for .
