Longmont police used a SWAT team to serve what they call a “high-risk warrant” at a home where they suspect drug sales have been taking place and took three people into custody.

Deputy Chief Jeff Satur said that police arrested Richard Duran, 37, on two warrants. He also faces additional charges stemming from his most recent arrest. Police also arrested Steven James Burton, 27, on a misdemeanor warrant.
A woman was also arrested on suspicion of drug possession as she left the house before police served the warrant. Police did not release her name on Tuesday night.
Satur said the SWAT team released the home to detectives shortly after 1:30 p.m. but police had been surveilling the residence on Tuesday before serving the warrant and suspect drug activity had been occurring. Information on what if any evidence of drug activity was recovered was not immediately known.
He declined to discuss Duran’s criminal history but said based on information police know about him, the decision was made to use a SWAT team.
“We use our SWAT team when we have identified risks to include thorough background on whom we are serving a search warrant,” Satur said. “Based on a lot of this information, we thought it most safe for our community to use our SWAT team.”
