Re: Aug. 14 letter to the editor.

Letter-writer William Ziegler responds to a previous letter by referring to “dishonest, disappointing and shameful” opinions disguised as news. The term “fake news” was created by and has been overused by our president to distract from the facts.

Good journalists work hard to investigate and uncover the truth. I disagree that a large segment of Americans disrespect the journalism profession. Pick and choose your information feed, cross-check and ask questions.

Those who have nothing to hide don’t create distractions or lash out at the media. It’s dishonest, disappointing and shameful to have a leader who can’t focus on the real issues of this country.
