has suspended his campaign for congress upon Monday morning’s news that .

Moreno, a Democrat from Commerce City, endorsed Perlmutter.

“We continue to be in great hands with Congressman Perlmutter,” Moreno said in a written statement. “Thank you to the many people who supported me along this journey. My time serving our community does not end with our campaign suspending, and I remain committed to standing up for our values in the state Senate.”

Moreno announced in May that he was running to replace Perlmutter.

Five weeks ago Perlmutter  and said he was done with politics. He reversed his decision not to seek re-election to stay in Congress.

State Sen. Andy Kerr, state Rep. Brittany Pettersen and Obama administration official Dan Baer also filed for the contest to replace Perlmutter.
