Sipping a 40 in the rain: Authorities were dispatched to a bus stop on West Colfax Avenue, where a man sat, drinking a 40 oz bottle of King Cobra malt liquor beer Aug. 8. The man also had a shooter of Jose Cuervo tequila as he sat in the rain.
Ducking the police: An officer noticed a vehicle hidden behind a semi-trailer at an office building at 950 Wadsworth Blvd. on Aug. 11. As the officer approached the vehicle the passenger in the car ducked to hide. The passenger told the officer she didn’t have an ID, and she lied about her age. Police discovered the driver had a restraining order against her.
Man found unresponsive: Police responded to a call of a possible overdose on Aug. 10. When they arrived at 5600 W Colfax Ave. they found a man unresponsive on a chair at a table. The man was gasping for air every five to ten seconds. Witnesses said they saw the man smoking a crack pipe earlier in the day.
Jimmy Johns employee assaulted: Lakewood authorities made their way to a Jimmy Johns at 7355 W Colfax Ave. in response to a disturbance on Aug. 8. That disturbance involved the assault of a Jimmy Johns’ employee. The suspect was found with a bloody lip and cuts on her chin. The victim decided not to press charges.
High, walking in traffic: Police saw a man crossing westbound on to West Colfax Avenue from Wadsworth Boulevard during oncoming traffic Aug. 9. A vehicle almost hit the man. Police stopped the man and saw that he could not keep his balance or his eyes open. The man did not know where he was, his birth date, or the day of the week. They asked if he had drugs in his system, and he said he smoked marijuana.
