Greeley police arrested a wanted man Wednesday night after the man attempted to flee a surrounded apartment building dressed as a woman and using a walker.

Greeley police Lt. Scott Smith said officers received a tip that a man, Nile Kirkpatrick, 53, of Greeley, who was wanted for an aggravated motor vehicle theft in Greeley, was in an apartment in the West Park Village apartment complex, 3770 24th St.
When officers went there just after 4:30 p.m. to arrest Kirkpatrick, he refused to come out. They surrounded the building and ordered him to come out.
Police also evacuated seven apartments in the building.
Smith said that during the roughly 2½-hour standoff, Kirkpatrick broke through a bathroom wall into another apartment, which had already been vacated by the tenant. When he came out the front door dressed in women’s clothing and using a walker, he was arrested.
