
NHL free agent defenseman Will Butcher, the Hobey Baker Award winner as college hockey’s best player, will make his decision Sunday and speak to The Denver Post about it Monday.
Butcher, 22, participated in the University of Denver’s pro camp Thursday. Through a DU spokesman, he said he will not skate in Friday’s final session — presumably to make another visit to an NHL franchise.
The defending Stanley Cup champion are believed to be among his suitors, along with the , and expansion Vegas Golden Knights. As many as 10 teams could be in the mix.
Butcher, a 2013 draft pick of the , , who offered him his entry-level contract in April after leading DU to the national title. Butcher became an unrestricted free agent Aug. 16 and has since been visiting teams and mulling his options.
