A man’s arm was severed in an industrial accident involving a conveyor belt at the UPS Customer Center in north Loveland on Wednesday morning.

Responders with Thompson Valley Emergency Medical Services and Loveland Fire Rescue Authority were called to the UPS Customer Center, 400 W. 69th St., around 8:30 a.m., said LFRA Battalion Chief Michael Cerovksi.

A UPS employee’s arm became detached by a conveyor belt, and other UPS staff members started transporting him to a hospital in a private vehicle, Cerovski said.

The man was reportedly being driven north on U.S. 287 before emergency dispatchers contacted the people transporting the man and told them to turn around and head south on U.S. 287.

An ambulance was able to meet the vehicle holding the patient along the highway, Cerovski said, and he was transferred into the ambulance and taken to a local hospital.
