An AMBER Alert has been activated in Colorado after police say a woman and her 1-year-old child were taken from Commerce City Thursday morning.
Police say they believe the woman, identified as Samantha Adams along with 1½-year-old Zahid Adams, were taken from Commerce City at 11:30 a.m. by Samantha’s ex-boyfriend Maurico Venzor-Gonzalez.
Venzor-Gonzalez is described as 5-foot-6 with black hair and brown eyes. They say he is about 130 pounds and is wearing a black baseball cap.
Efforts are underway now to locate the woman and her child safely as police search the I-25 corridor. Police say they believe the abductor could be en route to the Trinidad area on I-25.
Police initially reported that the grey Honda sedan with the Colorado license plate EVQ410 had been located, but the Adams County Sheriff’s office tweeted at 2:58 p.m. that the car had not been found.
At 4:14 p.m., Adams County tweeted that the car was found empty in Pueblo and that law enforcement was canvassing the area.
Call 911, or 720-322-1313, with any information on this case.
The vehicle was located at 1741 Cypress St. in the city of Pueblo, with no one inside. The area is currently being canvassed by LE.
