Miguel Diaz-Martinez, 61, also admitted to a charge of attempted sexual assault and to serve 10 years of sex offender intensive probation upon his release, according to a news release from prosecutors.

His sentencing is set for Nov. 20, 2017, in Routt County.

“The impact on the victims is profound and lifelong,” Cmdr. Annette Dopplick, of the Steamboat Springs Police Department, said in a written statement. “This plea agreement provides a sense of safety for our community. It is assurance to the many victims who may finally focus on their recovery without the significant stress of a trial.”

Routt County District Attorney Brett Barkey says the plea agreement ensures a virtual life sentence for Diaz-Martinez and protect his victims from having to testify about “the horrible things they experienced.”

“This plea will help these courageous young people to move on with their lives,” Barkey said in a statement.

the case against Diaz-Martinez was built in November and stemmed from a Routt County Crime Stoppers tip in July 2016 about illegal drug activity at a Steamboat home. Police then discovered multiple sexual assault victims, according to the newspaper.
