More than 1,000 volunteers will scatter throughout Golden on Saturday to help victims of the May 8 hailstorm continue to come back from .

The city is partnering with the Neighborhood Rehab Project — and kicking in $15,000 in unused grant money — to help make repairs to fences and roofs and to paint houses damaged by the storm.

“It destroyed roofs throughout the city and although insurance covered the cost of repairs for many, it was not an option for others,” the city said in a statement.

Volunteers will gather at 8 a.m. at Parfet Park in Golden, which is at the corner of 10th Street and Washington Avenue, to get their assignments for the all-day effort.
