Longmont resident Rose Chamberlain is in the path of Hurricane Irma as she hunkers down on the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Chamberlain posted a video Wednesday on her personal Twitter account and the account of her organization Coffee and Connections, a Longmont business networking group, from the island, with a sunny blue sky in the background.

“Good morning from the islands of Turks and Caicos. It’s Wednesday and if American Airlines would have answered our calls and helped us out on Sunday after 22 calls, we would be flying out right about now to Miami and then later tonight flying to Denver. It’s just not going to happen. I’m going to be in Hurricane Irma,” Chamberlain said in the video.

The Weather Channel reported at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday that Hurricane Irma had a near-miss of Puerto Rico, but was targeting the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Rose Chamberlain finished her Wednesday video by saying, “Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. It’s going to be fine. Just ride the tide.”
