Parker police arrest man suspected of setting fires along Cherry Creek Trail

Parker police have arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of setting fires along the Cherry Creek Trail that forced road and trail closures and led to a school lockout.

The fires broke out on April 12, and again the next day. The second blaze started near the Global Village Academy charter school. It took 60 firefighters and a helicopter making water drops to extinguish the blaze, .

Jake Payne faces charges of felony arson for the fires.

Payne appeared in court on Wednesday, and his bond was set at $5,000. If convicted, he faces up to 12 years in prison.
