From the deck of a walkout ranch in Castle Pines Village’s “International Isle” area wrapped by the fairways of the International course, you’re looking down at 185-yard Fairway 7, where Tiger shot a hole-in-one at the 1997 Sprint International. Castle Pines’ gated colony is even prettier now than it was then, but prices for homes around the sublimely scenic course aren’t keeping pace with their surroundings. Coldwell Banker Global Luxury agents Judy Johnson and Louie Lee will show you an extreme example before the game today — a grand walkout ranch, four bedrooms, seven baths, over 8,000 finished feet, plus a porte-cochère that crosses over to a private office — thatap not even $2 million.
The price of 780 Capilano Court in Castle Pines, built five years after Tiger’s shot, is $1.950 million. “You couldn’t duplicate it now for $3 million,” says Lee, who lives in Castle Pines and knows the market here. The home is alluring, with bright, wide-open entertaining areas that give nary a hint of their age. They’re rendered fresher still, says Johnson, by a seller who didn’t move in until 2006, and lightly occupied it. You’ll see gallery ceilings with retractable chandeliers; a William Ohs kitchen beside a morning room (where Johnson will have treats out); grandly scaled cherry finishes; and a daylit walkout level thatap over the top, with walnut floors, guest bedrooms on their own wing, a granite bar with wine cellar tucked behind; plus, an oversized three-car heated garage.
Lee has a second walkout ranch to show you nearby that really is brand-new, at $2.3 million, with trendy features including a waterfall spa in back. But neither home, he says, has a price that conveys how close this is to the south I-25 corridor. “You mention Castle Pines and some people think you’re talking about Colorado Springs,” he says. My trip down from I-25 at Belleview was 20 minutes exactly. To reach the open house, take I-25 south past C-470 another seven miles to Exit 187/Happy Canyon; turn right and proceed a mile to a roundabout, then turn right and check in at Gate 1 for a map. Johnson is at 303-888-4727, Lee at 303-549-6925.
