Broncos report card and game balls from Week 2 against the Cowboys

Denver dominated across the board in win over Dallas

Offense: A

threw four touchdown passes. ran for more than 100 yards. caught two TD passes. Though two turnovers cast a small stain on the performance, the Broncos were able to do almost anything they wanted against Dallas on Sunday.

Defense: A

The Cowboys’ much-celebrated rushing attack never got rolling. At one point in the third quarter, reigning NFL leading rusher Ezekiel Elliott had five carries for zero yards. The Cowboys’ only touchdowns came after turnovers in Denver territory.

Special teams: B

missed his second straight field goal, this one from 49 yards. The Broncos also had a penalty on a punt return. But Isaiah McKenzie had another big punt return and the Broncos were solid in coverage.

Coaching: A

The Broncos were wise in attacking a Cowboys secondary hampered by injuries. By getting Emmanuel Sanders and involved early, the Broncos set the tone.


Game balls

Trevor Siemian: The Broncos quarterback matched a career-high with four touchdown passes and dissected the Cowboys’ banged-up secondary. Siemian was the first Broncos QB since 2015 to throw three TDs in the first half.

C.J. Anderson: Anderson dazzled the Cowboys in the open field, whether he was running the ball (25 carries, 118 yards, one TD) or catching it out of the backfield (three receptions, 36 yards, one TD).

Emmanuel Sanders: The wide receiver caught two of Siemian’s four TD passes, including the opening score in the first quarter when he got behind three defenders. Demaryius Thomas (six catches, 71 yards) also made a huge impact.
