Denver police arrested a 39-year-old man wanted in Jefferson County following a lengthy stand-off in the 1400 block of Yates Street early Wednesday.
Police went to the home near Sloan’s Lake Park at 1 a.m. to serve a warrant out of Lakewood to Karl Christopherson, who was wanted in Jefferson County, and saw a “male on the porch,” said Doug Schepman, police spokesman.
“He retreats into the house, and refuses to come out,” Schepman said.
A SWAT team and police from Denver District 1 closed off the street, barricaded the home, and negotiated to convince Christopherson to come out.
He left the house at 4:40 a.m., and was taken into custody without incident.
He is being held for investigation of possession of a weapon by a previous offender in relation to the incident on Wednesday. Lakewood’s warrant was also for a weapon’s violation.
Christopherson’s police record includes a 90-day sentence for distribution of dangerous drugs, as well as an arrest for driving under the influence.
