
The Winter Valley fire in Moffat County grew to 6,400 acres on Friday, after threatening at least 25 to 30 homes, and oil and gas structures.
It is actively burning on Cross Mountain, according to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Recommended evacuations are in place.
The , heading north and east toward Deerlodge Park, according to Colorado Wildfire Information. In 30 minutes, the fire grew from 500 acres to 3,500 acres.
The fire jumped Highway 40, burning power lines and causing outages, according to the Yampa Valley Electric Association. Highway 40 was open on Friday and evacuations lifted.
The National Weather Service has issued red flag warnings for the Palmer Divide and parts of the Eastern Plains due to high wind gusts and low humidity.
