Rescuers work survivors amid the rubble of a collapsed building after a powerful quake in Mexico City on Sept. 19, 2017. A powerful earthquake shook Mexico City on Tuesday, causing panic among the megalopolis’ 20 million inhabitants on the 32nd anniversary of a devastating 1985 quake. The US Geological Survey put the quake’s magnitude at 7.1 while Mexico’s Seismological Institute said it measured 6.8 on its scale. The institute said the quake’s epicenter was seven kilometers west of Chiautla de Tapia, in the neighboring state of Puebla.

A U.S. Air Force C-17 jet carrying 58,000 bottles of water, 5,000 pounds of rice and nearly 450 cases of milk arrived in Mexico City on Saturday afternoon to help residents after last week’s devastating earthquakes.

The Globemaster jet from Travis Air Force Base in California also brought dried fruit, beans, potatoes and soup, according to U.S. Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. The supplies were provided by the Defense Logistics Agency.

It was the third U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster relief mission following multiple earthquakes in Mexico.

The first brought a disaster response team including 67 people and five K-9s to help with recovery efforts. The second brought 31,000 pounds of hygiene and medical supplies to Oaxaca, Mexico.
