Suspicions are quickly mounting that Daniel Nations, who has been officially charged with a single count of illegally possessing a firearm after he was on Mount Herman Road, could be connected to three murder cases across two states.

After Nations was named a “suspect” in the Mount Herman Road hatchet threats, based largely on the vehicle he was driving, Gazette news partner KKTV reported that a gun taken from Nations’ car matched the caliber used to , who was found dead in the same area. “None of that has been confirmed,” El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby said, and Nations hasn’t been charged related to menacing or the homicide investigation.

El Paso County detectives also contacted Indiana State Police about Nations after seeing a composite sketch of a man wanted in connection with the deaths of two teenage girls.

Indiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Kim Riley said the office has received a thousand pictures of men seeming to match the sketch since it was released this summer. El Paso’s contribution will be considered along with the rest, he said. “We’re looking at every aspect of every lead that comes in,” Riley said.
