I recently watched Rep. Steve Scalise describe his horrific experience after the June 14 shooting at the baseball field near Washington, D.C. His recovery is miraculous, thanks in part to the excellent health care he has as a government official. And then we watch Sen. John McCain, who is struggling with cancer, fight on with health care to support his ongoing battle.
Both of these men have health care provided by American tax dollars and I don’t begrudge them. I wish them both well. I also wish all Americans had realistic access to the same level of care as our leaders. Yet I hear, again, that the issue of “repeal and replace” will be revisited after the first of the year. Why? Why would our legislators want to continually deny us what they receive through our tax dollars?
