Furniture Row Racing to field one car in 2018 NASCAR Cup Series

The Denver-based team is “100 percent” focused on Martin Truex Jr. and the No. 78 car

Furniture Row Racing is going back to being a one-car team in 2018.

Owner Barney Visser said Wednesday that the team is not planning to run their No. 77 Toyota as a second-car entry in the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series.

“It is our organization’s goal to operate a two-car team in the future and we will continue to seek sponsorship funding for the No. 77,” Visser said in a release. “Our 100 percent focus for next season will be on the No 78 Toyota Camry, which will be driven by Martin Truex Jr.”

FRR expanded to a two-car team for the 2017 season, adding Erik Jones as the driver for the No. 77 car.

Jones announced in July that for Joe Gibbs Racing. Jones is replacing Matt Kenseth.

“The 77 team has come a long way since February and we still have a lot to prove,” . “I’ve had a lot of success working with JGR and I’m looking forward to our future together.”
