There’s going to be a distinct Colorado flair at UFC 218.
No. 6-ranked strawweight Michelle Waterson will face No. 5 Tecia Torres on the Dec. 2 mixed martial arts card in Detroit, UFC announced Tuesday.
Torres (9-1), who trains in Colorado Springs, is on a two-match winning streak since losing to Rose Namajunas in April 2016. Waterson (14-5), an Aurora native, lost her last match in April, also against Namajunas.
The two aren’t the only ones with local ties. Olympic wrestling gold medalist Henry Cejudo (11-2), who wrestled at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, will face Sergio Pettis (16-2) on the card.
UFC 218 is headlined by featherweight champion Max Holloway (18-3) defending his title against No. 2 Frankie Edgar (21-5-1).
