First Data Corp. cuts 201 jobs at its Greenwood Village office

Credit card processor has been shrinking in Denver after relocating headquarters to Atlanta

First Data Corp. is cutting 201 employees at its Greenwood Village office, according to a filing made public Friday by the Colorado Department of Labor.

The Atlanta credit-card processor said affected employees work at the company’s facility at 5775 DTC Blvd. The layoffs begin Dec. 5 and will be completed by March 31, 2018.

In a letter to the state, First Data’s Senior Counsel Jill Poole said employees were notified Oct. 6. Relocation was offered “to a number of its employees.” The 201 job cuts, however, are “expected to be permanent,” Poole wrote.

First Data, which recently , moved its headquarters back to Atlanta in 2009 after being based in Greenwood Village . At the time, it had 1,500 employees in Colorado. In 2013, the company , or 550 people. The company could not be reached late Friday for comment.
