Where in Colorado to adopt one of the more than 100 rescue dogs and cats from Puerto Rico

Seven shelters from Boulder to Pueblo are helping take in the animals

More than landed at Centennial Airport Tuesday night as animal shelters try to relieve their over-full island counterparts.

The animals came from two shelters, Vieques Humane Society and All Sato Rescue, and will be dispersed among seven Colorado shelters, according to Duane Adams, vice president of operations with the Denver Dumb Friends League. Sato is Puerto Rican slang for a mixed breed dog.

The animals should be ready for adoption within 3-4 days of arriving at a shelter. Here’s the full list of shelters accepting the dogs and cats:
