CSU spotlight: The Rams’ scorching start to conference play continued with a gritty 27-24 road victory at New Mexico. CSU has yet to lose a game in its on-campus stadium (3-0).

Air Force spotlight: The Falcons won consecutive games for the first time this season with a 45-42 victory at Nevada last week. It was Air Force’s first road win of the year.

Three story lines

1. Worthman vs. Stevens. Itap a contrast of stud quarterbacks with different playing styles. CSU’s thrives through the air with 2,486 yards and 20 touchdowns. Worthman dominates on the ground with 647 yards and 12 touchdowns. Itap up to the opposing defenses of each player to limit their big-play abilities. The team that does a better job will earn the victory.

2. Home sweet home. The all-time series history for this in-state rivalry is 33-21-1 in Air Force’s favor. However, the team thatap played at home in the last five matchups has won. The Ram-Falcon Trophy has been awarded to the victor every year dating back to 1980. Last fall, Air Force won a 49-46 thriller in Colorado Springs.

3. Staying power? The last time CSU played at home, a “sellout” crowd mostly vacated after halftime of a game decided by two points. A late kick and frigid temperatures were easy scapegoats. Now, the Rams’ faithful have another opportunity to prove they support this Mountain West championship contending program, and fewer excuses exist for leaving early.
