
Christina Randle isn’t sure why, out of 50,000 teachers in Colorado, she was selected as the best.
But she’s pretty sure her guardian angel — her aunt and godmother who died in July — had something to do with her new title, 2018 Colorado Teacher of the Year.
“I have no doubt she had a hand in this,” Randle said Friday, after being surprised with the award at Soaring Eagles Elementary School, where she’s taught first grade for a decade.
“There are so many incredible teachers who go unrecognized every day,” she said, dabbing her eyes. “I’m honored and thankful to be representing them.”
At an all-school assembly that everyone – from the 566 students to teachers including Randle – thought was about transportation safety, the crowd erupted when they heard the news.
