Westminster police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian collision that happened early Friday morning after a person stepped from a median into traffic, police say.
The gender and identity of the victim of the 4:30 a.m. collision has not been released.
Southbound Federal Boulevard is closed at Cottonwood Street for the investigation. The off-ramp from westbound U.S. 36 also was closed until about 7:30 a.m..
The victim was standing on a median on Federal when the person stepped onto the boulevard and was struck by a vehicle, Westminster police spokeswoman Cheri Spottke said.
The driver of the car remained at the scene after the collision, Spottke said. She said the case is not believed to be linked to alcohol or drug consumption.
