
Allison Eid’s nomination by President Donald Trump to on a in Denver was confirmed Thursday morning by the U.S. Senate.
The vote was 56-41, with just four Democrats — U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet of Colorado, Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, and Joe Manchin of West Virginia — in support, .
Cory Gardner, Colorado’s Republican senator, also voted for Eid, a Colorado Supreme Court Justice, to join the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
“Allison’s experience as Colorado’s Solicitor General, serving on Colorado’s Supreme Court, and teaching at CU Law will all contribute to her success on the 10th Circuit,” Gardner said in a statement. “Her devotion to the Constitution and the rule of law make her a tremendous choice and I’m looking forward to her service to our country.”
Gardner also knows Eid from , and was one of her top cheerleaders through the confirmation process.
The 10th Circuit job became available when for the U.S. Supreme Court.
Democrats resisted on the basis of her . Her confirmation was expected, however, after senators on Wednesday advanced her during a cloture vote by a 56-42 tally.
Eid also was one of 21 candidates on that Trump circulated during the 2016 election.
Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper will get his fourth appointment to the seven-member Colorado Supreme Court when Eid heads to the 10th Circuit post.
