
Even growing up, Erik Kleiber was all about pushing his limits, seeing how far he could go, how high he could jump.
“We first met in eighth grade in social studies class in the back of the room,” said Kleiber’s friend, Paul Behrendtsen. “And I think the first thing we did, when the teacher wasn’t looking, was challenge each other to jump over the desk. I hit my foot on the desk and flipped over. It was pretty funny.”
Added childhood friend Adam Tianen: “He led his own life. He challenged himself to be great.”
Friends and family are mourning the , who fell to his death from the First Flatiron last week. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said that Kleiber was climbing by himself on Oct. 26 when snow and rain moved in, creating slippery conditions that led Kleiber to slip and fall about 430 feet.
