A northeastern cold front will bring rain and then snow to the Denver metro area Monday night with up to 4 inches of snow accumulation expected, forecasters say.
Between 1 and 4 inches of snow could fall overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. A dense fog warning is in effect until around 10 a.m.
“One to 4 inches of snow is expected across the Front Range Urban Corridor by Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be colder with light snow expected across all of north central and northeastern Colorado,” the weather service says.
A mix of rain and snow is expected between 8 and 11 p.m. and then snow will continue to fall early Tuesday. Monday night’s low is expected to drop to 24 degrees. There’s a 70 percent chance for snow overnight.
Another half inch of snow could fall Tuesday, according to the weather service. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow on Tuesday, with the likelihood for precipitation dropping throughout the day. The low temperature Tuesday night is expect to hit 21 degrees.
The rest of the week will be sunny with high temperatures gradually warming from 49 degrees on Wednesday to 56 degrees on Sunday, the weather service says.
